Assurance goals
Customer assurance
How independent testing evidence can answer procurement and contractual security expectations, with its limits stated.
Customers, procurement teams and partners often ask how a supplier manages security. Testing evidence can answer part of that question when it is scoped, dated and explained honestly. A test is a snapshot of a defined scope at a point in time.
How testing can support this goal
- A clear statement of what was tested, when, by whom and under which rules of engagement.
- Answers to security questionnaires supported by evidence, rather than general assurances.
- Remediation status for agreed findings, where a retest was included in the engagement.
- Context that helps a customer judge whether the tested scope matches the service being bought.
What testing does not do
- Test reports are sensitive. Share summaries under suitable confidentiality terms rather than raw findings by default.
- A test does not certify the whole service or the whole organisation.
- Contract terms are negotiated with each customer. This page does not set them.
